Q: What is a Community Learning Center (CLC)?

A: It’s a dropout recovery program for adults who want to earn their high school diploma. We are open 12 hours a day to serve working adults. We currently serve over 900 students ages 18-85 from around the state of Kansas. When they are finished, students receive a traditional high school diploma from their sponsoring school district.

Q: How does it work?

A: Students enroll and attend on a flexible schedule that meets their needs. They work in a computer-based environment, with certified teachers on hand to assist them as they progress at their own speed. Whether you can come in three hours a week or three hours a day, you can reach your educational goals! Previously earned credits are accepted.

Enrollment is ongoing through September 19th. After September 19th classes are offered on a space-available basis.

Q: How long does it take?

A: It depends on the learner. The number of credits needed for completion, as well as the student’s attendance and motivation, affect the time it takes to earn the diploma.

Q: I’ve never used a computer. Can I still enroll?

A: Absolutely! We’ll teach you how to use the online materials. Whether you don’t know how to turn on a computer or you know how to build one from scratch, we will work with you at your skill level.

Q: What if your schedule doesn’t work with mine?

A: After you have completed one class at the center, you may be eligible to work on your high school curriculum from your home computer, as long as you have Internet access. An additional fee will apply for this option. Please check with your local center.

Q: How do I enroll?

A: Contact your local Community Learning Center. The only requirement is a $10.00 yearly enrollment fee and your time and effort.
