Step Up II is a high school diploma completion program, sponsored by Greenbush Educational Services and the Gardner-Edgerton school district.
Using proficiency computer based classes, students begin to complete their high school education at their own pace. When they leave the facility, they will be transferred to another Greenbush Community Learning Center.
We offer a second chance for incarcerated clients. Many would like to increase their job performance. Some want to begin a business and need practical skills, as well a diploma. The diploma will assist them in obtaining a small business loan. Also, a diploma is necessary to join the Armed Forces, in most cases. Even with a GED, they may experience problems obtaining the job they want.
Step Up II works closely with the staff at Johnson County Corrections Residential Center. We also work with the community based probation and parole program. These staff members will refer a client to Step Up II, to enroll as part of their treatment plan while they are there.
The facilities consist of approximately 200 clients, male and female.
